JARED STEINBERG PARTNER
Contact Info
Jared Steinberg is a Partner in Goldberg Weprin’s Tax Certiorari Department and leads the firm’s pretrial practice before the New York Supreme Court. He is known for a valuation-driven, results-focused approach to real property tax litigation and for strategically positioning complex tax certiorari matters for resolution at the pretrial stage. His practice focuses on representing owners, operators, and developers of commercial and multifamily residential properties throughout New York City, including high-value and institutionally held assets, particularly in matters involving multi-year overassessment and nuanced valuation issues.
Jared regularly manages tax certiorari matters through the pretrial phase, applying a detailed understanding of assessment methodology, market conditions, and appraisal support to develop analytically sound and commercially practical settlement strategies. A core component of his practice is his deep experience in real estate valuation and appraisal analysis, including income capitalization, cost, and sales comparison approaches, and his ability to translate complex valuation concepts into clear, defensible legal positions in discussions with the New York City Department of Finance and the Law Department.
Prior to joining Goldberg Weprin, Jared worked in Ernst & Young’s New York City office, where he provided valuation and audit services to real estate funds, financial institutions, and other institutional owners of real estate. This experience gives him a distinct familiarity with how owners and management teams evaluate real estate assets from an investor’s perspective, including considerations of cash flow, risk, and long-term asset performance. That perspective continues to inform his approach to tax certiorari matters and allows him to align valuation strategy with broader ownership and investment objectives.
With more than a decade of experience in real estate valuation and property taxation, Jared manages matters pending before the New York Supreme Court from commencement through resolution and also handles matters that proceed to the Appellate Division. In addition to litigation, he prepares real estate tax projections for acquisitions and authors property tax opinion letters in connection with offering plan filings submitted to the New York State Attorney General.
Jared earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and holds a Juris Doctor and MBA from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in New York.
